RACE UPDATES
(05.26.2009)
- Night ride on Saturday Night
SVMBA President - Scott Buckner will lead a
casual-paced night ride beginning at 8:00 pm from the Start/Finish line on
Saturday night May 30th.
The purpose of the ride is to look over the course one last time before the
race to check signs and barriers.
Bring headlights and plan to ride until 10:00 pm.
(05.12.2009)
- The Short Loop finish has been modified and lengthened
Race officials and City officials met on Monday May 11th to discuss the race
finish and were forced to make a change in the course. The previous
finishing route required that a section of The Riverwalk Trail would have to
be closed for more that 4 hours to accommodate the event. When
additional concerns regarding E.M.S. access were addressed, it was
determined that a re-route for the finish was the best course of action.
The maps have been modified and all signage has been adjusted for race day
(click on links above). This change will add an
additional mile of racing to each category. See updated mileages
below.
For those concerned about the additional distance, it should be noted that
this "new" last mile of trail has very little climbing with fast flats and
descents to the finish.
If you have any concerns or questions about the new finish feel free to
contact me using the "Contact Race Director" link above.
Thanks,
Chris Tompkins
